A Government initiative aimed at those students looking for an entry level into the hairdressing industry. It is 10 weeks in duration set in a salon environment. This allows for the Salon and Training Academy to successfully develop the skills and goals of the trainee.

By putting hairdressing trainees into your salons for a 10 week period free of charge it give the trainees the experience they need but to also allows the salon owners to see if they are suitable for the salon. These trainees are guaranteed funding for their NVQ2.

Vincent Bell can deliver the NVQ2 hairdressing training to any salon needing places for their own trainees. Vincent Bell can also send trained assessors to your salons.

Following an interview process, successful candidates will be selected by Vincent Bells Hairdressing and matched to the appropriate Salon.

• Week 1: Trainees attend the Vincent Bell Hairdressing Academy Monday to Friday and are given valuable insight into the hairdressing industry. Outlined are matters such as Health and Safety, employability skills, and all appropriate desirable skills required by the industry.
• Weeks 2-6: The Trainees attend the Vincent Bell hairdressing Academy on Mondays and Tuesdays; they are then introduced to their allocated Salon becoming part of your team from Wednesday through to Friday each week.

This is where the relationship comes into play. Any weaknesses identified by either party can be corrected at the beginning of each week at the academy. Upon returning to the Salon, the trainees will be able to resolve these weaknesses identified and develop skills taught at the Salon, thus becoming more effective and consuming less of the Salons commercial time.

• Weeks 7-10: Trainees attend the Vincent Bell Hairdressing Academy only on Mondays as by now they are more effective in the Salon.

This is our third consecutive year delivering this course. We have been extremely successful achieving a 95% retention of trainees gaining full-time work placements in their participating salon upon completion of their time with the Vincent Bell Hairdressing Academy.
